Mary Sbordone - Ballet Faculty

        Mary Sbordone received her early training from Christine Neubert and the Children's Ballet Theatre at Carnegie Hall in New York City.  During her years as a professional dancer, Ms. Sbordone danced many leading roles and received outstanding reviews from the New York Times, The Village Voice and Show Business.  She also appeared in an article for Dance Magazine "New York's Choreographer for the Young:  Christine Neubert" by Louise Pastore.  Ms. Sbordone was featured and interviewed in a documentary, "The Ballet in Central Park", which focused on the dedication, hard work and sacrifices necessary to become a dancer.  She also appeared in a made for TV ballet, "Little Women" which aired on NBC.  At the age of thirteen, Ms. Sbordone was awarded a four-year full scholarship to the American Ballet Theatre School (the official school to American Ballet Theatre) under the direction of Leon Danielien and Patricia Wilde.  While studying at ABT she was asked to teach the younger scholarship students under the direction of Nansi Clement.  As part of her scholarship program, Ms. Sbordone appeared with the ABT corps de ballet  at the Metropolitan Opera House for numerous ballets including Swan Lake, Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and Raymonda with guest artist Rudolf Nureyev.

        Ms. Sbordone toured with the Eglevsky Ballet Company as a member of the corps de ballet under the direction of Michael Vernon.  Her professional dance training included distinguished faculty Leon Danielien, Patricia Wilde, Maria Swoboda, David Howard, Barbara Walczak, Nansi Clement, Joseph Carow, Marie Paquet and Ali Pourfarrakh.  Ms. Sbordone’s teaching career includes a 17 year faculty position with Ballet Arts Studio (advanced/pointe and ballet classes), a 15 year association with the PTA Enrichment Program at the Haldane Elementary School in Cold Spring, New York teaching a "Movement and Music Workshop" for grades K-3 and a five year association with the Philipstown Recreation Department in Garrison, New York teaching a pre-ballet dance program introducing ballet to 3-5 year olds.
